About the Company:
Essar Power, with an operating track record of 15 years, and one of India’s largest independent power producers, is a subsidiary of Essar Energy, a company listed with London Stock Exchange and a part of FTSE250 index. It has 7 operational power plants in India and 1 in Canada that make up for around 4,000 MW of installed capacity. This capacity is set to expand to 6700 MW with the commissioning of the new projects currently under execution. Hunt Partners recently assisted this rapidly growing company in placing Mr. Ramesh Kumar as Managing Director, Essar Power Gujarat Ltd.
About the Candidate:
Considering his excellent commercial orientation, more than 30 years of work experience and hands on technical knowledge, Ramesh was found to best fit the role. A commerce graduate with professional ICWA qualification, Ramesh started his career at The Jay Engineering Works, later moving to Andhra Cements as Vice President – Finance. In 2005 Ramesh joined KSK Energy Ventures as Vice President Finance and later took over the post of President – Operations. Along with operational responsibility of the company’s 5 plants (producing close to 1000 MW collectively), he also headed its Insurance, Regulatory and Legal functions. At Essar Power Gujarat, Ramesh Kumar will take on the role of Managing Director responsible for the coal fired, 1200 MW Salaya power plant.
