Stefan Thomke brings out the significance of “Innovation” at Hunt Partners’ HRA Academy

 

Mumbai August 17th 2012: The third edition of the Hunt Partners HR Academy (HRA) was held on 17th August 2012. The event was held in collaboration with Harvard Business Publishing. Stefan Thomke, William Barclay Harding Professor of Business Administration at Harvard Business School enthralled the audience with interesting insights on “Why Some Companies Are More Innovative Than Others”

 

Stefan covered some interesting themes in his riveting presentation:

-        Why and How do some companies develop greater Innovation and others don’t ;

-        Some firm have surprising solution to customer problem;

-        How some people view their Innovation System;

-        Why Business Experimentation matters to Innovation:

-        Do most large Organization Really Experiment:

-        Business Experimentation : Does it matters in Service Industries

 

The talk was followed by an interesting open house discussion facilitated by Suresh Raina, Partner, Hunt Partners. The eminent audience comprised of Corporate India’s leading CEO’s and CPO’s including Abhijit Mishra, SVP HR,   HDFC Bank, Archana  Shiroor, Head HR, Barclays, Makarand Khatavkar, Managing Director & Head of Human Resources, Deutsche Bank, K A Narayan, President – HR, Raymonds Ltd, Vivek Kudva, MD, Franklin Templeton, Manoj Thakur, CEO, Avendus, Sanjay Sachdev, CEO, Tata Capital Limited, Rajiv Agarwal, CEO & MD, Essar Ports, Kuldip Kaura, MD & CEO , ACC all discussed Innovation challenges in the current economic scenario.

Stefan Thomke:

 

Stefan Thomke, an authority on the management of innovation, is the William Barclay Harding Professor of Business Administration at Harvard Business School. He has worked with US, European and Asian firms on product, process, and technology development, organizational design and change, and strategy.

 

Since joining the Harvard faculty in 1995, Professor Thomke has taught and chaired numerous MBA and executive courses on innovation management, R&D strategy, product & service development, and operations, both at Harvard Business School and in individual company programs in the United States and abroad. He is chair of the Executive Education Program Leading Product Innovation, which helps business leaders in revamping their product development processes for greater competitive advantage, and is faculty chair of HBS executive education in India. Professor Thomke is currently on the core faculty of the General Management Program (GMP) and has previously taught in the Advanced Management Program (AMP).  Previously, he was faculty chair of the MBA Required Curriculum and faculty co-chair of the doctoral program in Science, Technology and Management (S,T&M).

 

Professor Thomke's research and writings have focused primarily on the process, economics, and management of business experimentation in innovation. He is a widely published author with more than three dozen articles, cases and notes published in books and leading journals.

HRA is a learning initiative designed exclusively for senior HR professionals, by invitation only. Through an arrangement with exclusive educational, research and consulting institutions, HRA brings to India world renowned academicians and authors, each of whom will engage with our senior invitee members in a lecture cum interactive session, over breakfast, to disseminate the learning’s of their years of research. Topics will cover the broad subject matter of “Leadership & Management”.

 

HRA aims to have 4 such quarterly engagements through the year, ending with the grand finale, which will be a full day session – only for the serious learners. Post each session, Hunt Partners will capture the views expressed, and disseminate to all members in the form of a white paper.
